Brian Rubis

Hi! I’m Brian Rubis and I work for Brock Auction Company. It has been a pleasure to work with them and to have such great people to learn from.

I grew up on a farm near Hinton, Iowa.  From an early age I enjoyed attending auctions. Growing up, I enjoyed time spent outside, working the land, and tending livestock. I spent many weekends tractor pulling or on the farm fixing whatever broke.

When I wasn’t “making hay” I developed a love for singing and working with people. When it came time to make up my mind what I wanted to do for a living, I decided I didn’t want just a job, I wanted a profession. I decided to couple together my passion for rural life and working with people and thought back to my earliest years on the farm.  The answer was simple: auctioneering.

After graduating from high school, it was time to choose a school. After much deliberation, and some pointers from Bruce, I concluded I needed a college education to keep up in today’s competitive market, so I enrolled in Buena Vista University at Storm Lake, Iowa. Before I even left for school though, I enrolled in another school, the Worldwide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa.

While there, I honed my skills from “crying” a sale to sale setup and everything in between. After returning from Mason City, I spent four years at Buena Vista University earning a B.A. in Communications.

When I’d finished my degree at BVU, I took a job at Central Plains Diesel as a technician and customer service representative. Not long after, I also gave Bruce a call and asked if he was still looking for a good auctioneer, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Every day that goes by and every sale that we do, I realize how fortunate I am. I am lucky to have the opportunity to have a job that I love, and meet some of the greatest people anywhere, hands down.  If you are thinking of having a sale or just want to chat, give me call. I’d love to talk to you.
